Creating brow shading, 3D eyebrow ombre, eyebrow microblading, eye or lip liner, full lip shading is a two stage process composed of the consultation and initial procedure followed by a touch-up 1-3 months later.
First visit:
5. Will it hurt?
Sensitivity to discomfort is often heightened during menstruation or due to lack of sleep so clients are encouraged to book their appointment with the foregoing in mind. For client comfort, a topical numbing cream is applied prior to and during the procedure.
Some individuals take Tylenol prior to the appointment to relax themselves.
6. How long does the pigment last?
No one wants the same shade of lips or brows forever. The pigment lasts 1-3 years depending on quality of after care and the client’s skin and lifestyle.
Clients are encouraged to apply sun protection and avoid pigmented areas when using exfoliation products or tools. With fading, the client can take advantage of new trends in color and shape.
Best practices: Don’t wait for the pigment to fade – have the colors refreshed every year or two.
7. What is the difference between shaded brows and microblading?
Shading offers an edgy, dramatic look and involves filling in the brows with pigment, similar to the effect created by applying eye brow powder. Microblading, Hair Strokes, or feathering is when pigment is used to simulate hair. The result is a subtle and natural look.
Regardless of the technique, clients are encouraged to allow their natural brow hairs to grow in the pigmented area and to only remove the hair above and below the new brows.
8. Are activities restricted during the healing period?
It is important to avoid saunas, facials, steam baths, activities that will result in extreme sweating, tanning salons, sun and chlorinated or salt water pools for a minimum of a week and preferably two weeks after a procedure.
9. Could I be allergic to the pigment?
Allergic reactions to pigments have been reported, but they are very rare. There have been so few reactions to the pigments that some doctors are suggesting that the patch test be eliminated. If you are concerned about the odds, especially if you have other skin sensitivities, we always recommend contacting your doctor to have an allergy patch test to safeguard against allergic reactions to pigments or topical anesthetics prior to coming in. This is the responsibility of the client prior to scheduling your appointment. Unlike body tattoos, which are made using carbon based ink, cosmetic tattoos are made using iron oxide based pigments. These pigments are safe to use and are created to slowly fade over time.
10. How safe is the treatment?
When looking for a permanent makeup artist, health & safety is the most important criteria, followed by skill. Technicians should annually renew their certification in blood borne pathogens & communicable diseases and post their certificate at their work place. All permanent makeup services at KSB are performed in complete accordance with all OSHA standards (Occupational Safety & Health Association). All equipment is pre-sterilized and disposed of in a sanitary manner. We ensure that your procedure will be completed in a clean, safe room, free from other contaminants.
11. Am I a good candidate for Permanent Makeup?
Permanent Makeup is not recommended if you have Heart Disease/Pacemaker, Thyroid/Graves disease, Hemophilia, Prolonged Bleeding, blood thinner on prescription, or any type of organ transplant that requires anti-rejection medications.
You should not get eyebrow tattoos if you have eyebrow hair transplants, Eczema, or Dermatitis in or around the eyebrows.
You should not get permanent makeup if you are pregnant. You should wait until after delivery and/or nursing.
If you have Type 1 & 2 Diabetes, and High or Low Blood Pressure you should consult your doctor and get a medical release prior to any permanent makeup procedure.
